Nordstrom jeans caked in fake mud to make you appear you’re a man

Nordstrom is selling “Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans” which are covered in fake mud. This fine item can be purchased for a mere $425.

This product makes me profoundly sad. The snowflake generation will likely find value in jeans that provide the illusion that they’re not all pussies and have some idea of what hard work is.

This gives me the idea of taking my old clothes and selling them at premium prices, but as I think through this, it likely wouldn’t work. I work hard, I run hard, I climb things, I get actual dirt on myself…you see, I’m a real man and don’t have to buy fake dirt to prove it. Therefore, I’m guessing the crotch in my jeans is likely stretched a bit too much for any of the idiots that feel like buying jeans covered in fake fucking mud.

In a nutshell

This pretty much sums it up.

I love being me, I try hard, I care about other people. BUT, I don’t just flirt with danger, I give it a fucking orgasm.

Notes to self, on self

Sometimes there are things you simply need to take note of. Some carry a notepad, some use the little voice recorder on their phoneszane hagy tattoos, some of us ink it forever onto our skin.

I was not, and still am not, someone I think of as having tattoos. That doesn’t change the fact that I currently have 10 words tattooed on my arms in very visible places, all below the elbows.

These tattoos for me are not statements of who I am, but of who I wish to be or things I need to remember. I have failed many times at many things. I have fallen short and let myself and others down, I have hurt myself and have hurt others.

Since I’m asked daily what they mean, here they are. They may mean nothing to most people, but they mean something to me, and that’s what matters.

  • Aequitas – In Roman mythology, Aequitas, also known as Aecetia, was the goddess of fair trade and honest merchants. Like Abundantia, she is depicted with a cornucopia, representing wealth from commerce. She is also shown holding a balance, representing equity and fairness. During the Roman Empire, Aequitas was sometimes worshipped as a quality or aspect of the emperor, under the name Aequitas Augusti. [Aequitas is the tattoo that one brother has in the film The Boondock Saints. His brother has a tattoo of the word Veritas. They represent justice/equality/balance/fairness and truth.]
  • Veritas – In Roman mythology, Veritas, meaning truth, was the goddess of truth, a daughter of Saturn and the mother of Virtus. It was believed that she hid in the bottom of a holy well because she was so elusive. Her image is shown as a young virgin dressed in white.
  • Destiny -The hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future; fate.
  • Forevermore – Forever
  • Nevermore – At no future time; never again.
  • Dolorem Ipsum – dolorem ipsum, translated as “pain itself”
  • Willpower – Control deliberately exerted to do something or to restrain one’s own impulses.
  • Discipline – Train oneself to do something in a controlled and habitual way.
  • Fortuna – Fortuna (Latin: Fortūna, equivalent to the Greek goddess Tyche) was the goddess of fortune and personification of luck in Roman religion. She might bring good or bad luck: she could be represented as veiled and blind, as in modern depictions of Justice, and came to represent life’s capriciousness.
  • Thanatos – In Greek mythology, Thanatos /ˈθænətɒs/ (Greek: Θάνατος [Ancient Greek: [tʰánatos]] “Death”, from θνῄσκω thnēskō “to die, be dying”) was the personification of death. He was a minor figure in Greek mythology, often referred to, but rarely appearing in person.

Deviant behavior is our only hope

Innovation and greatness don’t come from emulating others, nor does happiness. It’s crucial to learn from what others have done, but absolutely vital to break your own ground and do your own thing.

Whether the topic of discussion is launching a new business, running an existing business, or living a happy and fulfilling life…deviant behavior is our only true hope. Without deviant behavior, you’re simply mimicking what you think you’re supposed to do and what the history of society tells you to do. Without deviant behavior, society cannot move forward.

From now on, when making a decision, don’t ask yourself what society would do. When making a decision, ask yourself what YOU would do.

To truly live, reach outside society’s expectations.

used to express exhilaration, especially when leaping from a great height or moving at a high speed.

Odds are you have something you have always wanted to do. Whether it’s a business idea, a change to your current company structure, or a personal goal that lives on your bucket list, there is something that you’ve thought about and haven’t done.

If you don’t do it now, a time may come that you no longer have the opportunity. This window of opportunity could close far sooner than you think, because you never know what’s around the corner. It’s easier to live with the mistakes you’ve made than wondering what would’ve happened if you’d tried.

While you can, before it’s too late, take the leap and make it happen. Say Geronimo.

‘Discipline’ may not be the right word for the message I’m wanting to convey this morning, maybe ‘dedication’ would be more appropriate. But, with ‘Discipline’ staring at me since it’s tattooed down my right arm, I’m going with it.

One of the pleasures I have is working with an incredible number of very motivated clients. Small business owners, owners of mid-size to large businesses, clients of all types and sizes. The one thing all the successful folks have in common is a very strong work ethic, and the discipline to do what needs to be done. They’re up late, they’re up early, they exercise to keep themselves sharp, they do not waiver in their commitment to win.

On the other side of this are the clients that simply don’t have the discipline to win. It’s hard to identify these clients before signing them, or they’d never make it through. These are the ones that respond to emails weekly, aren’t involved in every facet of the business, and are jealous of the success of others.

If you want to win, take a look at your schedule for the week. Are you dedicating enough time to the battles you plan to win? Maybe you’d rather party and have fun, that’s more than understandable. But, if that’s the case, don’t resent those that are up kicking ass while you sleep — you aren’t living in the same world they’re living in.

5 reasons to update that MySpace Page!

What? Did I just show myself as outdated by referencing MySpace in a current article? Well, it’s still out there, along with dozens of other social media outlets and online tools you’ve used in the past.

Do a quick online search for your own name or company name. Don’t just look at the first page, scroll through a few pages of results. There’s a good chance you’re going to find several links to pages that are outdated.

Not updating your online presence can hurt you or your company. These are common sense, but nobody takes time to think about them. Here are five ways that outdated data is hurting you:

  1. The you of today isn’t the you of yesteryear. There’s a good chance that somewhere out there you’ll find a reference that your favorite hobby is dancing the Macarena, there may even be pictures of you doing it.
  2. Your skills and professional experience have changed. Social media profiles that are five years old likely list you working where you’re not with goals you achieved long ago.
  3. You don’t look the same. That mullet was really awesome back in the day wasn’t it? But is that how you want people to think you look now?
  4. Your contact data has changed. What if someone does want to reach you? Odds are, that email address or phone number has changed.
  5. You’ve grown up a bit. No matter what you’re age, you likely look back a few years at the things you’ve said and done and cringe at some of it. There may be a few things out there you want to delete and bury.

The internet doesn’t forget, and you shouldn’t either. Take the time to log into each of these tools and update your content (or deactivate the account). Make sure your online presence reflects who you are.

Taking the time to do this is time well spent. Sure, a few password resets will be needed, but it’s worth the effort. If people are searching for you, you want to know what they find.

As a bonus, you get a wonderful stroll down memory lane.

“Useless as tits on a boar hog”

I’ve heard the statement, “Useless as tits on a boar hog,” several times in my life, but I’d never taken the time to ponder what it meant…although it’s sort of common sense when you ponder it. I do believe it’s was a prophetic statement describing the value of and ‘endorsement’ on LinkedIn.

Nevermore, forever more

“What’s with the Ravens? Or are they crows? For that matter, what’s the difference in a Raven and a Crow?” – that pretty much sums up the initial reaction from insiders when they see I have a personal web site nowadays.

In short, Ravens are far smarter than most know…ranking up there with dolphins and chimpanzees. Ravens show empathy for one-another. Ravens are adaptable. BUT, the main reason for the Ravens…many cultures once thought of Ravens as messengers to the gods. They were the first public relations professionals, sharing messages (sometimes only sharing the parts they deemed necessary and keeping some information for themselves).
